Emily Kirchner Announces Candidacy for Mayor of Fredericksburg
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
FREDERICKSBURG, Texas (November 3, 2025) — Emily Kirchner announced her candidacy today for Mayor of Fredericksburg in the May 2026 municipal election, emphasizing the need for thoughtful, experienced leadership that can bring the community together around a shared vision for its future.
Kirchner, who currently serves as Mayor Pro Tem on the Fredericksburg City Council, said her decision to run reflects her belief that Fredericksburg stands at a pivotal moment — one that calls for steady leadership, clear communication, and a commitment to the values that make the city unique. She also expressed appreciation for Mayor Jeryl Hoover’s dedicated service, noting that his leadership and commitment to Fredericksburg have helped position the city for continued success.
“Fredericksburg is special because of the people who pour their time, talents, and heart into it,” Kirchner said. “The choices we make today will shape the Fredericksburg our children inherit. I’m running for mayor because we need leadership that listens, builds trust, and helps guide our shared vision forward — preserving what we love while preparing responsibly for what’s ahead.”
Her campaign, Leadership That Listens, will focus on smart growth, fiscal responsibility, and preserving Fredericksburg’s character through collaboration and transparency. Kirchner said her goal is to bring people together and restore optimism at a time when civic discourse too often turns divisive.
“There’s so much to be proud of — and so much to look forward to,” she added. “When we work together — neighbors, businesses, and local leaders — Fredericksburg can continue to thrive as both a hometown and a destination, rooted in shared values and guided by a clear, common purpose.
During her time on City Council, Kirchner has been recognized for her pragmatic approach, steady leadership, and ability to unite diverse voices. Her record includes helping convey Fort Martin Scott to the Texas Historical Commission, championing water conservation, and advancing parks and recreation initiatives that enrich community life.
In addition to her public service, Kirchner is a founding board member of the Fredericksburg Parks Foundation and serves as Vice President of Economic Development at Texas Regional Bank, where she helps Hill Country communities plan for sustainable growth through sound partnerships and strategic investment.
